Has anyone experienced this before. I was slightly suspicious that they were leaking ever do slightly but thought maybe it was an increase in discharge.

Had a wee, stood up and had one largish gush (didn't wee myself btw, if was clear, slimy and sweet smelling). Had a shower, popped on a maternity pad and nothing since. This was at 1.10pm btw. With ds when my waters broke there was loads and loads for a couple of hours and I was continuously changing pads so I don't know what to think, has anyone any experience or advice?

(btw I'm 40 + 13 and had a show last Friday)

Thank you so much for reading Smile

Exciting!

Its possible that baby's head is in the way & fluid isn't really getting through, I think.

With DD, my waters broke, there was a gush, but then nothing. Only when the midwife did a VE several hours later did any more waters come out.

Are you contracting at all?

Primafacie · 10/06/2011 15:41

The baby's head is probably plugging the leak :). This happened to me with my first, I went to delivery ward and was told by the triage midwife I must have weed myself. Cue me arguing as i was sure I had not. She stopped arguing when i started leaking on her shoes. Good luck with the delivery!

Thank you both so much, makes sense. Am going to lie down for a couple of minutes and see what happens when I get up. Not contracting at all yet. Hmm...

How're things going??

emsyj · 12/06/2011 21:18

This happened to me and I didn't leak at all - DD's head totally plugged the gap. Hospital sent me home, telling me my waters couldn't possibly have broken Hmm as no ongoing gushing/leaking, but when I returned to hospital in full labour they admitted that they had gone after all.

Stick a sanitary (sp?) towel on, and see how it goes for the next hour. Hospital will probably ask you to do this when you call, always best to get it over and done with.

Good luck :)

My water went in a big gush, then nothing, contractions 2 hours later, baby 5 hours after that.

dinkystinky · 12/06/2011 21:25

Happened to me with DS2 too - waters in big gush but nothing - contractions nearly 2 hours later and baby in arms within 4 hours of the waters going... good luck OP
