Giving Birth in Hackney Event

I'm almost afraid to post this as it's kind of advertising. BUT it's advertising something free and useful to people on this board so I'm going to just do it and wait to be struck down by a giant lightening bolt from MN HQ Grin

I'm running an event at Born in Stoke Newington on 3rd July from 6-8pm. It's all about giving birth in Hackney. More details here:
borntogether.ning.com/events/meet-a-doula

There will be (free) wine, coffee and tea and a chance to talk about:

  • local maternity services (where are the good rooms, the quiet stairs for induction-stomping, protocol etc)
  • Homerton's new homebirth team and service
  • local pregnancy/birth/baby resources (good acupuncturist, where to find a cranial osteopath)
  • doulas and what we do and how to access us if you are on a low income
  • a general Q&A
  • chance to meet other pregnant persons in your areas

Please RSVP to me rebecca at hackneydoula.co.uk if you can make it, or by clicking the RSVP button on the link.

Right, off to take cover and await judgement...

Bumping this as there's less than 2 weeks to go. Looks like there should be a good turn out so do come along if you're local.

Squiggley was my doula for the recent birth of DD2, and if she's talking about what a doula does I'd definitely recommend going along. She was fab!

Secondtimelucky · 29/06/2011 20:43

I'm going to shamelessly bump this for Squiggley, since it's this weekend.

NorthLondonDoulas · 01/07/2011 20:25

lol secondtimelucky i will help bump it up too....

Doulas do a great job and by the looks of things rebecca has gone to a lot of hard work to put a very informative day put together for expectant parents!

Squiggley - i hope things go really well for you.x

Oh God - the Homerton. Do they have pillows these days? Do the midwives turn lights on/bang doors/talk all night? The actual healthcare was great. The 'care' - Ha!

Take earplugs and eyemasks.
