Best painkiller for after pains?

I had my gorgeous little DC3 yesterday and am really suffering with after pains, much worse than with the other two. Am just wondering what is the best painkiller people have used? And also which are safe to use whilst bfeeding? I know paracetamol are fine but frankly they're not exactly very effective are they??

When I was in hospital they gave me paracetamol 4x daily and ibruprofen 3x daily but I would give your midwife a ring and ask to be sure or pop into the pharmacy if you are able (or send someone else).

Congratulations! And LOVE your username Grin

I was given cocodamol too, did make us a bit drowsy but that helped my body recover! Had some to take home but didn't need any by then, great for toothache etc.

Well done you by the way!
Ask doctor for Voltrol- Midwife was told in hospital that you couldn't breast feed whilst taking ibruprofen- don't know if the midwife was telling porkies.

i phoned up my sil who's a GP and she said that the voltrol they gave me was the best thing to take anyway. With the paracetamol.
