Just wondered for those of you who have had elcs if it took a particular amount of time and how much time each bit takes, whats the process? Thanks

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It depends. Typically for a first CS it will be a few minutes to get the baby out, then maybe 20-30 to sew up.
If it isnt a first one it will take longer because of scarring and adhesions. I think that my second section took maybe 10 minutes to get the baby out, then around 40 minutes to sew up again.

26 minutes from incision to closure. The preparation beforehand too about the same, maybe a bit less.

was under general anaesthetic for ds1 so don't know.

ds2 was emergency section, he was out within 6 minutes, i remember because i was looking at the clock. dd was an elective, and it was much more relaxed and i think more like 15 mins before she arrived... as catsareevil says that was probably also due to scar tissue etc.

We were in and out in under an hour from spinal to recovery.

I went into the theatre at about 11am to have the epidural, dd2 was born at 11.21 am and I was out in recovery bfing by about 11.45.
