Anyone had a spinal block and suffered back pain afterwards?

During my labour last Tues recently I was given a spinal block after the epidural failed. I am now suffering really badly with severe lower back pain when I get up after sitting or lying down. I went to change my dd's nappy during the night and couldn't get up.

I am going to phone my GP in a bit but wondered if anyone had any experience of this and also how long I can expect the pain to last?

yes, it is completely normal to feel lower back pain postnatally and especially if someone has been prodding and pressing around with a damn great needle! I would take anti inflammatories regularly and contact your GP if it hasn't resolved within a few weeks. It is probably more related to hormonal changes, pulled muscles and poor muscle tone in the abdominal area than the spinal. Try some gentle pelvic tilts etc to start toning up the abdomen. Don't forget, it pregnancy lasted 9 months so expect it to take about that to recover.

I had a Spinal last Sunday and my lower back pain really kicked in yesterday. Hopefully it won't get too much worse! The stitches are bad enough :)
