How can I change my midwife - Wirral

Hi there

GP has sent me to One to One. Would rather see the community midwife who looked after me last time, she was brilliant, saw her all through my pregnancy and after I had my daughter, she helped with all my BF problems. Why can't we have a choice of which midwives look after us? I live in Birkenhead, friend who lives in Wallasey is seeing the same community midwife who has looked after her twice before. Thinking of changing GP so I can book with the Arrowe Park midwives. Have tried ringing the One to One midwife a few times but cant get through, she is sending me to the Womens Hospital in Liverpool to have my baby but I want to go to Arrowe Park. Anyone else due in November who lives on the Wirral?

Hi, sorry to hear things arent going to plan. I live in Wallasey and had a baby last year at arrowe park. I saw thr midwife at my surgery but did not see the same person at each visit and did not know any of the midwifes at the birth. Afterwards I only saw the same midwife twice in the couple of weeks after the birth, I had more contact with my health visitor. I was advised it is your choice when you first let the doctor know you are pregnant where you chose. However that being said it is your body/baby and if you are unhappy you should try and change if it makes you feel better. Birth is stressful enough without any added worries or pressures. May be worth contacting your doctor again. Hope you get things sorted. Good luck xx

What did the doctor say when you asked to go to the ones you went to before?

Have you moved since your dc1 was born or is there any other reason why you have not been sent back to the ones you went to?

Can you just ring the ones up that you went to before and ask them if they will take you on, find out if there are any things you need to get your doc to do to change to them...
