I am booked at the Ulster and have stayed there quite a bit in my last pregnancy, although actually gave birth in the Royal. My friend had her baby by ELCS in the Ulster about 4 weeks ago.

Apparently if you have a CS you have to stay in a ward for the first night. Friend was only in for two nights and stayed in the ward for both.

I asked one of the midwives who works on the post natal ward and she said side rooms are free of charge and on a first come first served basis, basically if they have one they will put you in one. Except if you have had a CS, in which case they like you in a ward for the first night at least so they can keep a better eye on you. It says in my notes they charge for side rooms, so I was suprised they actually don't.

You could always ask though.

Thanks for that, Know Ill be really antisocial but I would just like to be left to it after cs. Was on open ward last time & the person in next bed never shut up talking on the mobile....sooo annoying when youre knackered!!! When are you due?

I'm due on 5th July, but have quite a few complications so expect to be induced early, maybe around 38 weeks. When are you due?

I know the wards in the Ulster are small, only 4 beds and two toilets and two bathrooms per ward, but I know what you mean, especially as IME whenever you're in a ward the midwives always pull the curtains back! It's nice to talk to people, but to still have some privacy, especiakky with a new baby. I'm hoping for a side room.

I had my 3rd there in March. I had been booked for section but gave birth naturally and was in a 4 bed ward but had it all to myself the second night! First night all c secs are observed in open ward but all seem to be moved to side room if requested for 2nd3rd nights. Great hospital, all of it is so clean and fresh...

I had my dd there by elcs in February. I was on a ward the first night, but then my wee one got taken up to the SCBU to have her heart monitored so I asked for a private room for the second night. It was great and was much closer to the scbu which meant I could stagger up to see her once I was on my feet!

How did it go today Jelly? Any Luck?

I was hoping to gte them to book an induction for me today, but they said they won't do it until later on as GD pregnancies are so unpredictable. I did go into labout naturally at 38 and 37 weeks respectively with DS2 and 3 though, so hopefully I might only have 4 weeks to go... Grin

Well.... 8am monday ive to be there for......Ths SHO was very nice but I felt she was trying to talkme out of cs either that of scare the life out of me. Having a serious wobble though the cs is being done for medical reasons under the consultants advice....maybe its just nerves....this has put me up in the air.....Sad
Asked about a side room & was told I could ask but not guaranteed one, expected that!
Fingers xed for you that you dont have too long to go to meet your new addition!!! Smile
