Private C-section in Manchester area

Does anyone know hospitals in Manchester/ Greater Manchester that offer private C-sections? If so, how much does it cost and which hospitals would you recommend?

Just thought I would say this....please bare in mind that if you go to a private hospital for a section then they don't always have the facilities to deal with any potential medical emergancy that might arise (like intensive care unit for you or special care baby unit). Ceasareans are not a risk free option so be sure you ask the questions about what the risk are and how they can cope with them.

Mumble, there's only ONE totally private hospital in the UK which performs C sections and that's The Portland. They do have emergency facilities, and a NICU and SCBU. All other hospitals offering private CS are NHS hospitals with private wards and with the exception of Watford, are all in London.

I looked into local private care and possible C-section (I am in Lancashire), there was nothing, it does appear to be a London thing. Travelling to London was not going to be an option for me. NHS have been good for my previous 2 so I have decided to stay with my local hospital.

Personally if you wish to go to London for C-section then that is entirely your choice, and there are quite a few options there. But if you labour early, I wouldn't advise travelling the far before seeking medical attention but that's is just my opinion.

I wouldn't fancy travelling that far post-section either, ten min trip home from the hospital was enough for me :-/

Hi! There is nothing in Manchester, but there is a center called "Reassur3d", in Sheffield. run by an NHS obstetrician and they perform private deliveries in a nearby NHS hospital. You can just google " reassur3d".
Its all explained on the website.
Maybe you can take an early maternity leave and stay near the hoapital the pvt doctor delivers in for about a month before your due date- so even if you labor early, its not a problem. I believe acc to uk law you can start your leave anytime after 11 weeks before due date.
Im going to do that when my time comes. A natural birth is bad enough, but a crowded NHS hospital will make it worse. Someone once told me that you can ask your gp to refer you to a local ob/gyn who does private deliveries in NHS hospitals. So just ask him and maybe he/ she can help you out.

In any case, I will try to get a private midwive, because I am scared that the NHS hospitals are understaffed during the time of my calculated delivery date (around Xmas)...

That's an interesting link. Seems that what you'd be paying for is the consultant care and time rather than facilities so you end up post delivery on an NHS ward.

I looked at the website and private pregnancy care is only available in the Sheffield and Lincolnshire centres. Basic obstetric care for women who aren't pregnant is provided in all the other centres.
