Maternal postnatal infection

My grandson was born three and a half weeks ago. The delivery was quite traumatic, as he got stuck in the birth canal and had to be delivered by forceps. Fortunately, he doesn't seem to have suffered any ill effects. However, the same can't be said of his poor mum. She really hasn't been quite 'right' since he was born, and I've just learned that my son had to take her back to hospital last night. She has some rare bacteriological infection, and is expected to be on intravenous antibiotics for three to five days. I'm really worried about her.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this.

I got an infection but was diagnosed after a few months and was given anti-biotics at home.

I hope your DIL is ok.

My SIL had similar problems, and was on anti-biotics etc for a while, she recovered well but it badly affected her breastfeeding and she never managed to EBF after an initial fantastic start.
