Hi All

Hope you are well ? well as someone of you may know I am a wheelchair user and about to give birth to my first son (due date May 8th but the docs have decided to go for a c section on May 5th) Apart from heartburn I have only really been struggling these past month re movement. (due from 5 weeks of constant infections)

Anyway despite being on 2000 units of fragmin Ive notice my right foot in twice the size of my left and whilst the docs are not panicing yet I just wondered if it is normal and has/is anyone else going through it ?

Secondly for all those women whom have had c sections how long before you felt normal ie pain free ? I have read up that you bleed and I also wondered long before this may stop ( I understand everything woman is different.

Just the thought of being in a state and not being able to hardly move. Also whilst we cant wait to meet our son I am so worried somethings gonna go wrong re stiching me up (thats why I need people to share the storys good and bad to prepare myself)

Thanks All :)

I have had 2 sections one due to failed induction and then one because I didn't want them to try and induce me. I recovered differently each time. The first one I think I tried to do to much to soon and had the wrong help when My dh went back to work (mil who hadn't bf and wasn't that helpful with that)
The second one I asked for more help in hospital my health was not as good I had been diagnosed with arthritis so was already on the pain medication that they give you after a section it took me 24hrs to persuade them I needed something else as well. I didn't class myself as disabled at the time but looking bad you would have thought they had never had anyone disabled have a baby.

I needed a higher toilet I was really struggling with the normal one. I asked for a riser thing the older people they said no they couldn't get one due to infection control they would send the phiso she came hrs later then went away and came back and said would a disabled loo help. The nurses then didn't know where it was despite the sign being visible from the desk. I was fab a longer walk but so much easier.

tip tips

Ask for all the help you need.
Ask for all the pain relief you need.
Take in everything you need from home during normal living. ( for me that things like the thing that goes round my coke bottle to make it easier to pour)

Bleeding doesn't seam to last as long as those who have a vagina birth. I can't remember properly
about 2 weeks

Congratulations...not long to go now!

I had an emcs last time. I think that the level of dicomfort really does vary from person to person. I don't remember recovery being that painful, just felt tender. It is odd being bed-bound just after the section, but people will help (make sure you ask for all the help you need!) and you are pretty tired so the rest is needed anyway. I walked out of the hospital 36 hours after the section and only took paracetamol afer that.
Lochia was off and on for about 4 weeks.
I would second what moving soon said about taking everything you need to be comfortable in hospital. I was rushed in and so didn't really have what I needed, just my handbag and a novel! When I have my section in August, I'm taking plenty and have alrady planned the books I want to read while I'm there (it's coming to something when a hospital stay with a newborn is a mini-break- such is life with a toddler!)

Thanks for the useful advice and tips. :) ATM my Ots who came out with reps to order a costmised narrow self prepeled shower chair/ comode have now said nothings in stock and then I find out the order has never been placed. I have made a complaint but it still leaves me without anything and the last thing I need is to be worried re getting into a state and not being able to sort myself out whilst keep some dignity. I am so worried :(
