Hi I am just wondering how Lon I have to wait to have sex? I had a c sec 3 weeks ago.

I feel totally fine, and for some reason I am desperate for sex... weirdly, couldnt even think about it for 9 months of pregnancy..but actually would like some time with my DP....

God love him its been long enough for him !! Smile

I just wondered if I had to wait for a specific time????

Think it's six weeks like after vag birth to give the lochia time to finish, but as long as your stitches have healed and you don't go pulling at your tummy muscles which were cut open, it's probably ok?

I didn't go there for aaaages so not 100% sure.

It was 3 weeks for me, straightforward ELCS. Just explain that he will have to be gentle, you will need a lot of extra time to "get going" and pressure on your tummy is a big no-no. Even if you feel fully healed, it will stilll be tender. Have fun!

JWIM · 19/04/2011 16:31

3 weeks here too.

BikeRunSki · 19/04/2011 16:44

Can't remember (had a CS), but a lady on my maternity ward closed the cubicle curtains and did it when her baby was about 2 days old.

When the hospital MW tried to talk to me about contraception I yelled "Someone stuck a knife in my stomach 3 days ago and you think I want to have sex!!!!!!!!".

Helzapoppin · 19/04/2011 17:21

Just over 2 weeks here, but be gentle and no swinging from the chandeliers.
2-days is surely some sort of crazy record (and in a postnatal ward- did she have no shame!!)

hippy3 · 19/04/2011 18:18

Thanks ladies.... I figured wouldnt be anything too strenuous....!!

bikerunski are u serious ??? I am laughing out loud...!!! Smile

Everything seems to have died down anyway as with regards to bleeding, etc..and I appear to have healed (on the outside anyway) pretty well.... mind you I also know as soon as I get anywhere near my bed this eve...I will be asleep. !!

Good to know..... my DP will be delighted...! Smile

Just over a week - gently!

Seven years. HTH

(This is how long it takes for the memories of childbirth in any form to mellow sufficiently for you to risk it).

I would say you'd be fine, as long as your DH/P is gentle.

I was 3ish weeks each time (I've had 3 sections)

FriedEggyAndSlippery · 19/04/2011 18:20

2 days?!? In the hospital?

Jeez I'm all for a bit of al fresco/risky sex but that is waaaay too far in my book Shock

hippy3 · 19/04/2011 18:29

whomoved Laughing again......!! I thought I might feel like that but weirdly I feel quite in the mood..... had none of this during the pregnancy mind you. ! its been a WHILE let me tell you....

It was 11 weeks for me and that was cos it was Christmas, I fell pregnant again and only did it that once Blush no more sex for me.

unfitmother · 19/04/2011 19:07

Two weeks here.

FattyAcid · 19/04/2011 19:12

in hospital is bad form

BikeRunSki · 19/04/2011 19:30

Deadly true. Me and DH (and probably even newborn DS) were very, very Shock. We sat in my little area whispering "Are they really doing what I think they're doing...." MWs implied that they were not the first couple on the ward to have done it either... Didn't even cross my mind after we'd been moved to a private room either. Booked into the same hospital again for DC2, but hoping for less "action"!

buffy13 · 19/04/2011 22:59

4 weeks, basically as soon as bleeding had completely finished (seemed to go on forever!)

bibbitybobbityhat · 19/04/2011 23:01

Didn't u ask the drs in the hospicle???? lol

ZhenXiang · 19/04/2011 23:09

Waited five weeks until scar felt more comfortable and had long stopped bleeding, don't think I would have until six weeks but it was our wedding night Grin. Had to be very gentle, but still was nearly five months until I felt normal inside again (but I got to pushing stage and had ventouse/forceps before CS so it may not feel that way for everyone). Even though sex was enjoyable (a little uncomfortable starting off) lying on side and plenty of lube helped everything along until tummy fully healed.

Meglet · 19/04/2011 23:12

6 weeks, both times, as per hospitals instructions and until after my 6 week check.

ChateauRouge · 19/04/2011 23:18

10 days first time round... about 5 mo the 2nd.
