Birth experiences at Chelsea & Westminster

So far my experiences with antenatal care there have not been really good: they've forgot to inform me about test results, you see a different MW every time and at times they've been rather rude. I really enjoyed the antenatal classes though..

Anyhoo, I'm due in 4 weeks and would be interested in how people found the actual birthing experience here.. Oh and just to clarify, I'm on the NHS side.

Hi there,

I had a fantastic experience at Chelsea & Westminster three weeks ago, as did a friend of mine who gave birth a few days before me.

I've written about it on the Childbirth or pregnancy thread (have a click around to find my original post) but some good things included:

  • every staff member was friendly and positive
  • the midwife, Ruby, was very calming and followed my birth plan as best she could
  • my partner and I were given as much privacy was was possible after the birth, given the limitations on space/time
  • there seemed to be 'continuity' in my care, despite shift changes/handovers etc
  • I was given lots of help with breastfeeding in the 24 hours that followed the birth

I could go on. We even wrote cards to the staff and midwife thanking them, and gave them chocolates. I sincerely hope you have a good experience too!!

x

PS. Birth is a blast. Sure, it is painful and gruesome but very exciting. And the outcome is amazing!!
