Hello,
Just wondered if when booking in for second or more pregnancy, do you get to see/ go over your previous pg/ labour notes?

At my booking appointment she had all the notes from my last pregnancy and labour (so that's where they went!) she also looked up on the computer the details of all my blood tests from last pregnancy.

She didn't go through things in detail, just checked the important points (eg method of delivery, length of labour etc), checked there was nothing to make me high risk this time.

I imagine they would be happy answering questions, but time would be limited. At my next mw appointment (32 weeks) I am planning to ask if we can go through my previous labour notes at the appointment after that, so that we can book a longer appointment if necessary.

I didn't but it may be different where you live. There's no harm in asking to see them if you think it'll help in anyway.

it depends. at booking in, they just filled out the basic form. on future appts that had all my notes there.

They had the basic details - date, weight, instrumentation etc., not the details about at what point I was 5cm dilated, how many swabs they used etc.

I don't know if you could look at the full notes if you wished. I think I'd rather not, would prob be a bit grim and scary!!

mine were in the file when i had my consultants appt, and I asked to have a nose through, she was fine about it. Didn't spy them with the mw though.

No (and I'd be surprised if it happened anywhere), but you do have a right to request a copy of your notes at any time - info on how to do it on this thread.

I still have my notes.. is that wrong? Confused

DS is 2, btw. Nobody asked for them so they're still in my knicker drawer!

Mine are attatched to my handheld notes when I go to see Consultant. The system here is strange really, I went to a surestart to have booking in and my handheld notes were posted to me blank with appointment for me to fill in, then taken off me at this appointment, and given back to me when I had, had my dating scan. I don't actually get to meet my community midwife (even though I have met her in previous pregnancies so do know her) until 28 weeks, and she will only have my handheld notes as I give them to her.

Thanks for your replies.
It seems it depends on where you live. I'm not pregnant again, but interested to know if anything about previous delivery might make high risk next time,
Long 2nd stage, brow presentation ( ithink) forceps, epi and tear, then pph. Hopw not just curious.
