I'm pretty much 38 weeks with second baby, on wednesday when I saw the midwife I was 3/5ths engaged.

I've got the most awful impressive runs I have ever known today, constantly on the loo. (Definitely not food poisoning, not eaten anything unusual and haven't been out in the last two days) Really there aren't words for this delightful experience...

Have any of you had this and if so how long was it before your baby was born?

I believe that this does sometimes happen shortly before labour - dont know why though .......

WorzselMummage · 02/04/2011 13:10

I had the trots with dd, she was born 6 hrs later after a labour of 4 hrs.

BooBearBoo · 02/04/2011 13:10

Yes. It is your body having a "clearout" before labour. It's well known :)

architien · 02/04/2011 13:15

Oh God, 6 hours! I went overdue with my first I'm just not ready. In 6 hours my husband will not even be back from work. I've got the shakes. Oh dear. Saying that a straight forward 4 hour labour would be good

Good Luck

Everything seems to have gone quiet on the "signs of something happening" front, which I'm relieved about.

I can get back to ordering new nighties and a new duvet cover!

Darcies I hope it doesn't start tonight, that's when I've been getting the Braxton Hicks. I want to hold on till at least Thursday when midwife drops off the birth pack and my husband will be able to take a bit of leave from work.

Well I started 'clearing out' around about this time of the afternoon and had my first twinge at midnight! was born by 1pm and home in time for tea :).

Well good luck with whatever happens, hopefully baby will listen to his/her mummy and stay put for another week lol

PorkChopSter · 02/04/2011 17:31

It was the hours leading up to labour (and during early labour) for me Grin

architien · 02/04/2011 17:37

Have you explained that tomorrow is Mothers Day and you are supposed to spend the day with your feet up being pampered?

DilysPrice · 02/04/2011 17:48

Yes me too. It's a good thing because it means you're less likely to poo yourself in labour, but I'd tell your DH not to dilly dally on the way home.

architien · 02/04/2011 17:59

I left a childbirth book in his workbag and I had asked him to read the "in an emergency" section on the train last week as I had a relatively quick labour the first time round and thought he ought to have a bit of knowledge on what to do if he is the only one there to deliver. Talk about eyes on stalks, he looked very worried....

I just thought it was sensible.

I've been texting him with updates today, although I had no response for the first 6.5hrs, so he knows that things could surprise us.

Yeah I had this too started clearly about 4 in the morning and dd2 was born at 10.55 :)

prettywhiteguitar · 02/04/2011 19:23

Oh I had very strong runs for an evening but it was well before my due date, about 2 weeks....my waters broke on my due date and gave birth two days later

architien · 02/04/2011 19:26

I would like to order one of those prettywhiteguitar please, can you kindly tell me where to queue and where to sign?

prettywhiteguitar · 03/04/2011 13:39

haha well I'm pretty sure I used the last one ! and I'm due a two week overdue wait and emergency c-section this time :)

hawesmead5 · 03/04/2011 13:47

I cleared out before starting labour baby born 50 mins later! Went back onto the loo thought I need to dash their again only to find it was the head coming out! So definitely a sign for me :)

GeekLove · 03/04/2011 19:20

I had loose motions from about week 36 onwards. Then at week 39 they stopped. Not until the day before did they come back and come back with vengeance they did - 4 times in a single morning. I had a sweep that day and the following morning a bloody show with contractions starting in quick succession.
So best if you get prepared but don't be too upset if it is not now! Have a happy delivery!

theborrower · 03/04/2011 20:22

Yep, me too, but I was already having contractions. When I was on the loo I was thinking "Oh right, this will be...".

Hope you're doing ok!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 04/04/2011 09:41
