Hi

Anyone given birth at the Leicester General. Had first at Leicester Royal and had a VERY bad experience with them recently when thought my waters had gone.

Moved to the general now and although excited about the birth nervous about different surroundings as NEVER ever been to the general apart from when my nan passed

Any stories welcome good or bad!! Rather know!

Hi, I had all 3 DC at the general, none of them were straight forward pregnancies and I can't fault the care that I had each time.

I felt confident in all of the HCP I came into contact with and felt in control and supported in my choices.

My labours were managed well and the midwives acted very quickly when I needed them to.

My only critism would be that I was very quickly (12 hrs post birth) 'kicked out' of the post natal ward after birth of DC3 but I think that this is probably a universal problem due to lack of beds.

On another note - I am a nurse and have worked at both hospitals and I never considered being cared for at the royal. HTH Smile

hi
just to check youre aware they 'share' patients and if youre booked under one but its full you will be bumped into the other
apparently last month instead of the ave 350 babies there were 800 born hence them being pretty busy
I only mention it incase you get switched at the end whichever you decide
FWIW I have had friends have complicated excellent care at royal, but not general inc botched epidural, but think its more about the unknown of childbirth rather than hosps
somethig to consider - st marys at melton? its midwife led so no pain relief exvcept G&A and any queries you get whipped to the leics hosps anyway, BUT there care is 1 on 1 you can stay as long as you need, and people rave about it - you can go there for post natal care after either of the leic hosps too

Would second giving consideration even at this point. Had dd1 there 7 years ago. Had a perfect water birth there.

I've requested a water birth at the General, has anyone got any experience of those facilities there?
