I had my beautiful DD3 2 days ago, I had a bit of a cold just before and was left with a small cough, I wouldn't even notice it but now every time I cough a gush of urine pops out, I also got out of bed last night and had a huge gush, the doc said to do pelvIc floor excercises and see if it improves but it's hard to do pelvic floor this soon after birth so I don't know how effective they are. Has anyone had this and it clears up quickly or am I looking at a long term problem???

I had a very similar experience. Don't panic - in my case it did go back to normal after a week or so. The muscles have been pretty traumatised by the birth but will recover. Any small pelvic floor squeezes you can manage should help. Also go to the loo frequently! I found that at first I couldn't really tell when I needed it, but again, it did go back to normal.

Yes. I had this - it was a bit of a shock!

I was rubbish at remembering to do my exercises and it got better anyway.

However, I can still have a problem if I'm sick, or if I really need the loo and I'm running for a bus or similar Blush so do those exercises religiously would be my advice!

Thanks so much, great to hear positive stories, it's a bit better today so I'm hopeful!
