traumatic birth and a month in NICU

Hi, I wondered if anyone knows of support groups, either virtual or in RL for people who have had a sick baby. Have found several, but even my local one seems to be just for those who have premature babies, not full term very sick ones.
My baby is now 11 months and surpassing all expectations, but I am needing to talk to others who have experienced similar events to us.
I am having counselling, and have been on the birth trauma association website, which have both helped.

Any ideas gratefully received! Confused

Bumping for you. Don't know of any such organisations myself. My dd was for a long time in NICU after a very traumatic birth experience in which both of us nearly died due to total lack of care in leading London hospital. TBH since then I have only tried to forget about it. However, for a long time our private paediatrician and private obstetrician both advised that we should sue the hospital for total neglect and they even offered to prepare medical side of such a case. I just couldn't face the idea of having to go over all the awful events again. Nurses and midwives couldn't have cared less if dd and I had died. Others might have had something similar and might have sought and found help. So hopefully somebody else responds. In the meantime, I wish you lots of strength and am very pleased that your baby is doing so well after what clearly must have been a rough start. Best wishes to both of you. Smile

Babycentre has a NICU support group, some posters there may be able to help?

I haven't found any online which are very busy in terms of posts. NM has a Prem/SCBU forum and so does BLISS. You could also try www.cafamily.org.uk/ I have never found any in RL although am in a rural area so may be more around in larger places.

Glad to hear your dc is doing so well! I have a dd who was term and had a stroke causing brain injury before birth - she has a few physical difficulties which have been hard to come to terms with although I am getting there a bit more now!
