I've just escaped a c-section by inches, breech baby has turned at 39+1!

I'm still in shock. After discovering that DC4 was breech at 36 weeks presentation scan (for planned home birth), unsuccessful ECV at 38 weeks and acupuncture at 38+2. We'd decided after lots of tears and emotion to go for a planned c-section today at 39+1.

Saw the community midwife yesterday who thought baby was still breech. Get to hospital this morning, wait around all morning to speak to Consultant & anaesthetist. Got prepped for theatre, in hospital gown and flattering support stockings, walk up to theatre, wait in theatre for surgeon, surgeon says, we'll just do a quick scan to check he's still breech - and hey presto - head down!

I skipped out of the theatre and am now home just waiting in earnest for labour to begin! I can't believe it - had psyched myself up for c-section and now I'm at home, never believed he would turn this late!

Could still go for home birth, but have tested positive for GBS, and baby is determined to be unpredictable!

Just wanted to share - it can happen!

Yay - you must be so pleased!

My DD was breech from 37 weeks and would not turn despite my best efforts and a rather brutal unsuccessful ECV.

How exciting for you. Good luck (however it turns out in the end)
