How bad is a 3rd C Section (planned) ??

Ok I am probably well ahead of myself here as me and DH are not even TTC as yet. but we are very keen to go for DC3 and I think it will only be a matter of time before we are ttc.

I am really scared though as I had the other two via planned c/sections. DC1 was pretty much ok really, painful the morning after but not unbearable at all, just niggling and nothing some pain relief didn't help with :o and i was pretty much back to normal after a week. and kept smugly going on to everyone who would listen how easy it was Hmm

however DC2 (born 3 years almost to the date after DC1) was a different story. the pain afterwards was excruciating and lasted for days and days, and it took at least 2 weeks before I stopped being in pain. i remember them making me have a shower the morning after she was born and i was sweating and throwing up with the pain :(

So I am worried about how bad a 3rd one will be :( (there is no way i would consider a natural birth, its just not an option for me) judging by the fact CS #1 was ok and CS #2 was pretty awful. I am guessing its because there is more scar tissue there each time?

anyway, any feedback would be appreciated :) tia x

my first 2 were emergency sections and i recovered from them very quickly, ie within a few days.

3rd one was like your 2nd one, unbelievably pain for 3 weeks, enough to make me black out a couple of times. turned out i had a nerve trapped in the stitches, which GP told me is common, and i now wonder if all the friends who told me they were in agony after their sections had the same thing, but assumed it was normal...

so no i don't think the scar tissue is necessarily an issue, i think it's just the luck of the draw

I've had 2 so far which were both about as painful as each other, 2nd one maybe less painful - I know I took less painkillers. Currently awaiting the arrival of twins whichwill be my 3rd section and more worried this time but with no reason to be!!! I'm sure I'll be fine though.

In have had 3 sections; emergency, crash (twin 2) and planned. Planned was far and away the best. Crash was terrible and I lost 3.5 litres and had to be rushed back to theatre. Baby very ill too. So I was scared to death as well as having problems all through the pregnany, worried due to a loss of DD at almost 21 weeks the year before, and a cervical stitch, blood thinners and constant bleeding. Well, I needn't have worried as it was fine and no excess blood loss. I was in pain for 3 weeks but nothing unbearable. I have had 2 natural fullterm births as well and I was in pain after that for 2 weeks as had a bad tear. Overall, it wasn't too bad although I needed help the first 3 weeks (mainly for the school run).
