Has anyone given birth at QE - Woolwich since december?

I was wondering what people have found the care like giving birth at QE in Woolwich since Queen Mary,Sidcup closed.

My MW recommended looking at the new birthing centre in Bromley that opened in December as an option (not sure if its a bit too far away but definately considering as meant to be lovely) but also mentioned that QE aftercare had become a lot better and she was hearing a lot more positive comments since the midwifes from Sidcup have transferred over in December. Apparently they were very understaffed before.

Everyone I know so far that has given birth in QE has said labour has been fine but the after care was terrible but this was all before December.

Anyone?

Interesting!! I'm due in May but will deliver in April or earlier. I'd not heard things had improved there, but I guess it is possible. I'm seeing my midwife on Friday so I will ask her.

I had DC1 there in 2006 and swore never again (I had a bad midwife in labour who made mistakes that have had big repercussions and don't get me started on the postnatal ward). DC2 I had at Kings, but the postnatal ward wasn't a lot better.

I have to have a c-section due to a permanent stitch and I am booked into Chelsea and Westminster for delivery with the doctor who did my stitch. However QEH is literally 5 minutes by ambulance away from my house so if I went into precipitous labour like I did with my first, I'll need to go to QEH as a matter of medical urgency or face uterine rupture (fun times!)

I actually have my antenatal care there - in fact a lot of the ex-Sidcup registrars are lovely. They think I will deliver there but not if I can help it Wink Nevertheless there is a chance I might - I'll update this post if I do!

Sparklies, im due May 9th so if for any reason you do have to go there before an update would be great! Although obviously hope that you dont as sounds like would only be for all the wrong reasons!!!Smile

Heh, I'm due May 10th!! But my scheduled c-section is April 28th at C&W at 38w2d (they won't go any earlier despite my other two DCs coming pre 37 weeks) so I won't see May for certain.

With DC1 I really didn't care much for the consultants but they seem much better this time out - I can tell you that much. Whether it's because they're from Sidcup this time out, I wouldn't like to say!

I do love my community midwives though - they are fabulous. I wish I could have a home birth but it's not to be, but at least I will see them after the birth wherever it is.

Due 9th May and booked into QE. Our nct teacher is on the patient board there and has some positive stories especially in relation to the additional midwifes. Our group is split between QE and Lewisham birthing centre but apparently you can look round QE on some Sunday afternoons.
