34wks, baby heartrate was 186 then an hour later down to 140-150. Any experience of this?

I was sent home from hospital after monitoring just told I was ok to go. I've not got any pregnancy related issues but I have been on antibiotics for a chest infection. Could this have caused it and if so what does that mean?

Has anyone experienced high fetal heartrate or are there any midwives/OBs out there who could tell me possible reasons?

Is there anything I should watch out for in particular in childbirth?

I had it at about 35 weeks, was sent for monitoring. They thought it was due to me being dehydrated as had been ill with pleurisy and on antibiotics. An afternoon of monitoring and drinking loads of water and it was back to normal. Baby was fine.

Antibiotics were a feature for you too. Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope others will share too.

Was it high for a long period of time or could it have been while you were having a braxton hicks?

All experience welcome. It was high for about 2 minutes on the midwife's handheld monitor. Bump didn't feel hard so I don't think it was BHs.

The reason i ask is I spent alot of time on monitor due to pre eclampsia and was surprised at the amount of BHs I had but couldn't feel (I often felt them so not like I was a person who didn't) - the only reason I knew was because of the numbers on the screen and the print out.

Ah I see, I've been lucky with no swelling, no protein in urine and passing the diabetes test so far. Just had a chest infection with antibiotics.

Sorry, I wasnt suggesting you had PE, just giving history of why I was on monitor so much thus how I observed the BH thing.

Hope someone comes along with another idea soon :)
