Am due in September and have heard horrific things about Whipps X and Homerton (my nearest) and wondered what people thought/experiences were?

whittington hospital birthing centere was excellent. Antenatal care not as great for normal pregnancy by hospital team but for complicated pregnancy I hear they are pretty good. Birth centere team was great not sure about the actual ward. I recommend them especially after seeing the chasefarm hospital after taking dd for a test there. Good luck!

Whit definitely worth a look. The birth centre (midwife-led) is swanky and when I had my DD2 at the hospital my consultant was really excellent. Post-natal wards are something of a zoo, but that is the same London over judging from my friends' experiences.

I'm a doula living 5 mins away from Homerton and am there a lot so I wanted to let you know that it isn't awful!

It isn't perfect but it has wonderful shiny new facilities, a great birth centre and they are really committed to woman-centred care even if they (like all London hospitals) don't achieve it all the time.

A lot of the horror stories are from years back and certainly before the new facilities opened less than a year ago.

It's also a teaching hosptial.

If Homerton's your closest it's definitely worth going on a tour before you discount it.

I had a homebirth via the Homerton team a year ago and it was wonderful care. Almost all my clients have had great experiences there too.

Thanks everyone, I will check out the Whittington - and not discount Homerton!
