Has anyone given birth at the Portland or is anyone planning a birth there?

I am considering switching from an NHS hospital to the midwife led delivery service at the Portland. I have a couple of friends that have given birth there and they've been happy with the care they received, but just wanted to get a few more honest opinions really.

I am just over halfway through the pregnancy (baby #4), and everything is uncomplicated so far. I've had 3 normal vaginal births before. So would rather go for the MLDS than consultant led care if possible.

Thanks

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I have, and went under MLDS and it was fab :) I have no complaints! It was a wonderful experience!

Not under MLDS (as high risk), but still very happy last time and having DC3 there (hopefully) in 7 weeks. Midwife I had with me last time was very professional, competent. Help with bfing, nursery, rooms nice and felt very looked after.

My 3 children were born there but all by ELCS. Difference between NHS care and private is like night and day, sadly. Aftercare is v v good.

My ELCS is scheduled in a week there, and though I wish I were low risk so that I could experience the MW care and a pool birth, I'm pleased with my consultant and ALL of the nurses and MWs whom I've been in contact with so far. I went through a 2nd tour today of the Labour Ward and can say that it is uber-clean and seems to be a pleasant environment, so am looking forward! A few of the nurses asked today if they could come visit me next week, which was very nice since our families don't live nearby. :)

Good luck with your decision and the remainder of your pregnancy!
