Hands-up if you did get an epidural without having to beg for one.

Puts hand up.

Just interested to see if it really is all that bad.

I had my baby at Queen Charlotte's in Hammersmith, London.

I went in at 8 cm, and asked for one and got it immediately, no problems.

I got to hospital at 10cm and immediatedly asked for epidural. I got one straight away!

RupertTheBear · 25/02/2011 19:10

I had one with no bother at all both times. First time was at 4cm, second at 6cm.

Mahraih · 25/02/2011 19:22

I got one at 3/4cm - the consultant was very supportive.

The anaesthetist arrived within 10 minutes.

That's great to hear but can you tell us the name of these hospitals so that those of us who live in pain relief denial zones know where to head Smile

applecharlotte · 25/02/2011 19:36

Yep - 4-5cm on arrival at Homerton Uni Hospital, given an epi within 30 minutes by a lovely lovely man. It was heaven after 24 hours of contractions!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 25/02/2011 19:39

Got it no problem. Sunderland Royal. The maternity unit has it's own anaesthetists and theatres so there is always someone available.

ThatisNotMyName · 25/02/2011 19:43

I was encouraged to have one after 19 hours. Gwh in Swindon

Mahraih · 25/02/2011 19:57

Kings College, London. Very happy to leave me alone with the G&A too.

I transferred in from a homebirth at 8cm, to get an epidural. I was initially told that the anaesthetist was busy, but they got someone in from a neighbouring hospital to do it for me within 30 minutes.

Flojo1979 · 25/02/2011 22:13

Bolton hosp

Conquest hospital Hastings, I transferred from a hb and had epi at about 6cm dilated, no problems and the anaesthetist was fab! Smile
