Hi everyone,

I had a scan on which shows baby's head right up against cervix (and i can feel her really low!), does this mean that i am likely to start dilating etc anytime soon? I have a history of early deliveries - 1st - 38 weeks, 2nd - 36 weeks, and now currently 34 weeks... I also tend to dilate a few cm without knowing, first sign is my waters breaking! at which point within an hour i'm usually fully dilated. I have also been getting shooting pains up/down through my cervix... Are any of these signs or not???? I've never really paid much attention to these things before but seem to be noticing them much more this pregancy.

Thank in advance for any help!!

once you have had your first baby, your cervix never goes back to 0cm. Its always about 2 or 3cm - what is called a multips os !

As your baby's head is so low down, and your otehr baby's have been born that little bit earlier, then I would say, yes, there is a chance of labouring early.

A heavy baby's head pressing on your cervix is going to help dilate it much quicker than a head hovering around above it, especially when your waters have gone and there is no cushion between head and cervix.(especially as this has been your previous history)

Shooting pains in your cervix can be a sign of head fixing - your body getting it in the right position for delivery.

Unfortunately, without a crystal ball, we have no idea if this means delivery in the next hour or the next month.

Good luck when it happens - hope when your waters go, you are somewhere safe to deliver !
