False Labour? Driving me CRAZY!

Hi, this is 2nd baby, am 40+1 and going nuts with false labour pains. After all of this I am really not sure how I will know when I AM finally in labour as I´ve thought "ooh this could be it" several times. Added in the fact that as much as I want to leave it as late as possible before going to the hospital we have to be realistic about allowing childcare time to get here to look after ds1 (+/- 30mins) then about 20mins to get to hospital ourselves. So this is how its gone so far:

On both sunday and tuesday night just passed had fairly strong, regular BHs for several hours, but then nothing by morning and nothing for the rest of the day (bar odd BH here and there but nothing regular)

Wednesday night nothing but this morning dull period pain and lower backache. BHs on and off all day today and a bit of backache which I´ve mostly ignored. Started getting more regular and uncomfortable around 5pm.

6pm had a bath and decided to time them.. every 3 mins or so lasting about a minute but still more very uncomfy than painful, carried on like this for over an hour. Now at 7.30 they are more like every 5 mins but still coming.

So are these Braxton Hicks or contractions?! I guess we just hang on a bit longer and see what happens but any advice/ opinions??

They certainly are pretty regular but they aren´t crazy painful or anything, are they always??

You could be just getting off to a slow start - the baby could just be trying to reposition itself and when it gets going for real a lot of the work will have been done.

Are they always painful - no not always.
