Hi,

I?m looking for birth trauma counseling and i'm having a hard time finding anyone who specialises. On the off chance, does anyone know a good place to look or can recommend an organisation/ person etc.

Thanks in advance

I have just been referred to a midwife who specialises in counselling by my gp. Maybe speak to your doctor and see if there is one near to you, who you could be referred to.

Good luck.

I'm going back to my hospital, they have an afterthoughts service with a specialy trained midwife councellor(sp?)Ask if your hospital has a similar free service.

Many thanks for your responses.

Unfortunatly i cant go back to the hospital for lots of reasons, having absoluty no faith in them is one.

I am going to look again at the Birth trauma website. Not really sure who to contact on it? Perhaps i will put out a request for my area.

I did google BIrth Trauma counselling for my area and nothing really came up Sad

Hey,

Just to say i hope someone with more info will be along soon to help. Is it worth asking your health visitor whether she knows if there is a suitable service in your area?

Take care

I'd suggest going to the BACP website and click on 'find a uk therapist' then put in your postcode. It'll bring up all the therapists/counsellors in your area who are accredited with the BACP. Some might have websites you could look at or you could call some up for a chat and find out on the phone/email if they work in this area. Lots of therapists don't specialise in an area but still would be sensitive to this issue and your experience. What I think really matters is that you find someone you feel comfortable with who you can explore things with.

Lots of luck.
