pyjamas after c-section

I had a vaginal birth with my first baby but will need an elective caesarean for my second due in summer. I'd like to get some new pyjamas for the hospital stay and would much rather have proper PJs than a nightie.

I don't really know what to expect but do remember not really being able to wear anything around my waist for a couple of weeks after an appendectomy.

Is it just foolishness to have drawstring PJ bottoms after a c-section or is the wound so far down it doesn't matter?

Hi there, I've had two EMCS, and the scars are so low that pyjamas will be fine.
Remember to pack big knickers though, as briefs etc will rub (ouch!).

I would have at least on nighty, in order to accomodate the catheter that can sometimes be in for a while.

You'll need a nightie for the first few hours, because as Hazy has said you'll have a catheter. Also, if you have a nightie then they can change the pads more easily for the first few hours without you having to move too much.It also easier for them to wash you after the op. I wore pjs on the day after IIRC. Good luck!

Also, I found it really hard to bend down to pull my pj bottoms up (oh the dignity!) I went in with one nighty, and got dh to bring in 2 more, because they were just more comfortable.

I wore nighties. And then put really baggy/too big jogging bottoms on when I could. You do need a nightie for all the reasons other people have said. As well as the catheter, you'll have support stockings on for the first 24 hours

Also as well as a catheter I had a drain inserted for first couple of days after section so a nightie was much easier

Nighties are easier IME. I couldn't bear anything around my waist for over a month.

Can you get some cheap maternity tracksuit bottoms from H&M (they always seem to have a sale rail). I wore them for a few weeks after my cs's.

Yes you will need a nightie at least to start with, for the catheter and so that they can check your wound and change your pads for you.

I then wore maternity pjs - but over bump ones where the waistband came up nice and high so that nothing was pressing.

imo you'll be in a hospital gown for the first couple of days then just get soft joggers or hareem pants. bit less 'rubby' than most pjs

As others have said, nightie for first 24 hours (ish) due to catheter.
I got some pajamas from Primark, 4 sizes too big! Drawstring was good as I could tie around waist level so they didn't fall down and rub.
I suggest cheap and dark colours... It can get a little messy when you have to lie down a lot then shuffle slowly to bathroom.

I wore a nightie while I was in bed all the time and had a catheter in (just under 24 hours with first and 3 days with 2nd) and then pj's when the catheter was out. I needed lots of both with my 2nd as I was in hospital for 8 days and I leaked milk, blood and the baby puked on me a lot too.

I wore a nightie, and once the catheter was out I wore maternity leggings underneath. They felt quite supportive against the incision, which was fab. I also highly recommend getting a c belt.

Vote for PJs here. Didn't have any problems with the scar or getting them on/off and the catheter was out by evening so no problems there.

I'm nighties all the way, so much easier for catheters and general mobility afterwards. Pj's fine for when you get home.

Huge gap between her post and the previous one. Probably a link selling something related to the thread like pyjamas. Happens often as you can see

I bought pyjamas from that Camilla shop once. They were full of spiders and pubes. Choc full. Would not recommend.
