Question about Pethidine storage ??

Now that I have this as back-up for my "active" home birth (actively screaming I want pain relief prob), have recently read somewhere that it should be stored in a fridge.
Is this true, I have two little ampoules and are locked away in bedroom nest.............should I move them to a colder climate ????

No they do not need to be stored in the fridge. We store it in a locked cupboard at work.
