I was busy wallpapering etc today and I have now got a very bad ache in my back. Also I feel like I have a big leaden Xmas pud pushing down on my pelvis. Some pains around my ribs also. I keep on wanting to pee permenantly. When your waters break does it feel like this. I can feel movements, but I feel very odd. I want to poke my tummy out to relieve discomfort.

when your waters break it nothing like weeing, u cant control it. hth

pupuce · 10/09/2003 22:31

When are you due ?
Wallpapering is also nesting ?!
Wanting to pee.... or are you leaking ? there is no desire to pee it just leaks !

wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:31

Thanks Misdee wasn't sure at all about that, I forgot to mention that one of my boobs is burning as well. Probably irrelevant but who knows.

wiltshire, could be imminent or not, but misdee's right - waters breaking can't be mistaken for involuntary weeing. But you can be well into labour and your waters haven't broken (the MW had to break mine with DS1 and I'd been in labour for a while). Backache can be labour - but wallpapering while heavily pregnant might have something to do with it too

ahh the nesting thing. fond memories of scrubbing floors, putting cot up, vacumming everywhere, dusting every surfuce at 3am.

pupuce · 10/09/2003 22:35

Did you labour at all with the first ?

wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:35

Haven't had one yet so haven't got a bloody clue. This is first.

pupuce · 10/09/2003 22:37

Oh well then.... if it IS labour it is very very early labour.... I would be amazed (but please do amaze me) if we saw a post in a few hours of your birth announcement

So is it a leak or just a lot of pressure on your bladder ?

wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:37

Also obstetrician reckons that due to my age 34 (ancient eh?) and the size (he & m/wife thought I had 8lb er at 34 weeks) thats why I should have c/s.

take a paracetamol if u're comfortable with taking them during pregnancy, if the pain goes your not in labour. if its still there in the am, then go have a quick check up if u feel u need one.

wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:38

Pupuce, Is this a usual thing to get at the last few hurdles or am I just having a panic.

OP posts:
pupuce · 10/09/2003 22:38

Reading your orginal post I think it sounds more like baby ahd a good move and is now settling into pelvis !

wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:39

Oh and thank you everyone for being there, I am panicing a bit.

wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:40

The head has been engaged for coupla weeks now. I have taken some paracetamol. I guess I will just have to wait and see. Gonne feel v.foolish if it's just me being prat.

Panic
Well I would not know if your MW is right or wrong BUT sizes are notoriously over estimated.... Also baby may have taken very little weight in the last few weeks.
Are you small ? Was it your idea to worry about your pelvic size ? were you measured ?

misdee · 10/09/2003 22:42

everyones allowed to panic when they have children! its our right. i was constantly in and out of hospital, they got soooo used to me there lol.

wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:43

Not at all, ob just said it felt small. God knows, I just sat there thinking right ok, am having a bloody baby on so & so a date, shit. don't know how I feel about c/s but would rather that than do herds of labour then have to have emergency one, which I suppose it will be if I am in labour. The peeing is urinating not water of own accord.

I am usually 13.5 st but have only put on 9lbs. However other bits of me have lost weight and my tummy is big like a space hopper

OP posts:
misdee · 10/09/2003 22:47

have u lost weigth during pregnancy then? i only gained about 7lb with dd2 but she weight 9lb so i was effically 2lb lighter after giving birth. lol

pupuce · 10/09/2003 22:49

Sorry what do you mean : "The peeing is urinating not water of own accord. ???"

I am 8stone and had 2 babies... there are women who have 12lbs, no tear and are by no mean big women... I mean size is also greatly influenced by the position you are in.... just try lying on your back, leg on beed but spread,..... feel the space ... and then do a squat or a supported squat (which is very easy in water) and feel the difference. Some say you can add 2 cm !

If you are going in labour... just see what happens... emetgency section does not ave to mean CRASH section ! It can be done at a very nice pace.

wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:50

Nah, haven't actually lost it on scales, but my bum & hips seem slimmer as do arms & thighs. It is all bump. Bet it don't stay like that after though. Will be 'ate all the pies girl' again.

OP posts:
wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:51

What I mean is I am weeing involutarily but it feels like a pee. Not water just coming out.

OP posts:
pupuce · 10/09/2003 22:53

Just smell it.... you will recognise the wee odour! Amniotic fluid smells sweet.
If it is fluid.... it can still be a while (72h) before you go into natural labour.

wiltshire · 10/09/2003 22:54

Anyway I am going to go and run bath with Lavender Bubbles and try to calm down. Thanks so much to all of you and I will keep you posted. I am drama queen to the whole (and I mean every moment)kit & kaboodle will be posted.
