They gave me gas and air - could you ask for that? I think it was more the dryness of my vagina that made it painful TBH, maybe your doc will be kinder and add a bit of KY?

In any case, it is over quite quickly, so don't worry. Good luck!

its uncomfortable, I had waters broken twice, both times was having mild-ish contractions, straight after the contractions magnified by about a million. Lots of luck Smile

I had gas and air too, it was uncomfortable maybe a little bit painful not too bad though...Good Luck!

Not painful for me, in fact I was shocked at how little liquid there was, thought there would be a gush......

Immediately afterwards I was hit with bloody hard contractions!

Good luck xx

I misread this and thought it said 'by the dog' was picturing a german shepherd with a crochet hook BlushWinkGrin.

I didn't find it painful at all. I was shocked how much liquid there was though and was really glad they hadn't broken naturally while I was out and about!

To be honest there was a bit of pain, but certainly no more than the sweeps. If anything, there was less 'shuffling around' up there and it took less time.

They gave me gas and air - ask for that - and also lubricated, which was good.

I'd definitely have it done again without trepidation.

have had mine broken all 5 times, didnt hurt with some but was uncomfortable with others and with dd, baby no 5, it was nightmare, took three people, numerous attempts to do it, despite me being dilated etc. apparently they were tough membranes!

anyway i had gas and air, they will be happy for you to breath that and it meant i was relaxed and they could shove around etc and it didnt hurt, without the gas and air it was very painful, i started off without it, as had been fine previously, but once it was not going to be easy i had the gas and air, oh how i LOVE that stuff!

Had mine done with DD1 & 2...after induction so was already contracting. Felt nothing more than a fumbling kinda sensation iyswim...and then warm liquid Shock

But the contractions were majorly intensified after that and things moved along much more swiftly. Deep breathing...relax...hum a song to yourself etc etc! Good luck!!
