Hi Ladies,
Im booked in on Wednesday for a csection as bubs is breech.
I'm going private and was just wondering what to expect regarding the post natal care from the private facilities.

Would love to hear experiences from anyone else who has also used the private facilities at Queen Charlottes.

Many thanks
Lou

My experiences there have been first class. I spent quite a long time on the private ward ahead of my son being born, I had pre-eclampsia and so was being monitored very carefully. The midwives on the private ward are great, so are all of their support staff.

The rooms are quite basic, but clean, private and quiet which is important when recovering, especially from a c-section. I had a lot of help with washing, dressing by the staff, which was great after a csection as it's difficult to do anything for yourself initially. The nurses were also very on top of making sure I had my pain relief when it was scheduled, and also as my son was in special care I needed to express milk for him and they were fab at guiding and supporting me to do this.

I also believe they will take the baby off you during the night, or the day, if you need a rest and they have nursery there where the baby can sleep, and the midwives will then bring the baby to you when they need feeding.

I had my son there just over two years ago and my sister used the private wing a year ago and had an equally positive experience.

Wishing you all the best for your csection next week.
