OBEM, should I be watching it?

Never been anything that has interested me to be honest I have never bothered looking at it.
But everywhere I look there are people writing or talking about it.
Am I missing something informative or entertaining?

Are you pregnant? Planning on giving birth at some point in the future? Have you seen hundreds of births, professionally and/or personally, and therefore know exactly what to expect? If you are, and you haven't - it might be useful. And it is very entertaining. But it isn't compulsory.

Do you want to watch women give birth?

If you think that would be useful or fun, go ahead.

Otherwise, don't bother.

I am pregnant, and have given birth twice before one VB and one EMCS. I am happy in my state of not remembering a great deal about either.

Not sure I do want to watch women give birth. Just wondered if there was anything else shown, like ante natal appointments, or consultant chats which might give further information on certain conditions that might be useful. If it is just people giving birth then I will continue to pass I think.

Nope I have no desire to look at myself give birth never mind strangers Grin And people are getting all het up about uncaring midwives, forceps, women being left alone, it's a tv programme, edited for ratings not a public info film.

Wigglesrock has made the most sensible comment I have read for sometime.

I concur - I love watching the Birth Diaries style of documentaries, but OBEM makes me want to chew the sofa in frustration. And my midwife says it's crap too!

I enjoyed the first one or two but the further along I get (now 38weeks) and the more real my imminent labour gets the less i enjoy it. Do NOT think I will tune in next week, after last week I definitely felt a bit freaked out in a "oh no I forgot it does reallly really hurt! i don´t want to do it.. waaaaah" kind of way. Which I think you could really do without at this stage in the game Grin

i like it only because seeing the babies actually born makes me emotional and look forward to the birth of mine in a 'its a miracle' kind of way.

and i just enjoy all things pregnancy and birth related right now!

xx
