This is my 3rd baby but this is the first time I've had that "baby could drop out of my fanjo any minute" feeling...

DD1 was 5 days early, waters broke with no sign of imminent labour and from then on it was just a matter of time.

DD2 was also 5 days early, no particular signs. Put DD1 to bed, thought "ooh, I think I might be in labour", I was. She was born 12 hrs later (after 4 hrs active labour.

Never had braxton hicks, or tightenings or period pain/ back ache or that "full" feeling.

This is DC3. I'm 39+5. I have had braxton hicks. I have had period pains. I've had back ache. I've had all of these in the last week. Saw midwife yesterday who told me baby was engaged and this morning I woke up with a definite feeling of "ooh, this baby is low, low down". This is new to me.

Do we reckon labour might be fairly imminent (as in next couple of days..) or could DC3 just hang out here for a while making me nervous?

If head is engaged not surprised you've got back ache & periody pains, they do engage quicker ime. Have you had a show yet?

CostaLotCoffee · 08/02/2011 13:51

I had that 'baby might fall out' feeling both times. With each it started at about 40 weeks and they both came in the following week and a half so I don't think it means labour will definitely start soon, it might though.

Its a very odd feeling, especially as you are walking around Tesco and it feels like baby might just slip out in the cheese aisle!

robino · 08/02/2011 14:50

No show yet. And a week and a half? Walking around feeling like this? Erk..

I am in exactly the same boat! DS1 born at 37 weeks, DD born at 38 weeks - both surprise starts with waters breaking spontaneously, without warning and catching me by surprise. This one at 37+5 has been tightening on and off for 10 days, constant pains in the fanjo and lower back and I had to leave Tesco's doubled over on Sunday fearing baby was going to fall out! this will be the one that goes full term. Am permanently in pain......

robino · 08/02/2011 16:54

It's weird isn't it? Am not keen! The worst thing is that DH works 300 miles away during the week and I just don't know when to call him. Feel like I'm permanently on mental eggshells

Me too ! This is DC3 and I am 37+2. With both previous labours I had my waters go first with contractions starting properly 12 hours later, so no experience of this weird is it starting or not! I have been having tons of BH's and period cramps. For two nights the BH's were coming every 5 mins and lasting 30-40 secs so thought we were off ... then nothing.

Baby now feels quite low, and I am getting strange feelings down below .. most odd. I agree robino it's a strange feeling.

grippingon · 08/02/2011 18:24

Hello strangeways love !! when I didn't see you on our earlier thread i thought it had all kicked off for you ! Self is resigned to the 17th now and I bet it's a tiddler when when born, it'll be my smallest !!!

grippingon · 08/02/2011 18:58

Are you also finding that, unlike before, if anything touches the bump, particularly the lower half of it, it brings on the strongest BH'S ? I never had BH's at all with previous two, I thought they were a myth!

StrangewaysHereICome · 09/02/2011 10:06

Anything seems to set off my BH's- they are never ending!! I had loads with my other two as well.

How are you doing robino?

mannicmummyhavinaiccy · 09/02/2011 20:32

Hi, Do you guys feel like you cant close your legs?! sounds strange but this is my 3rd and never felt like this, tmi, but when I use the loo, it feels as though my parts have split and she'll come sliding out [worried] I'm 37+3 and scared to leave the house!

grippingon · 09/02/2011 21:20

yes ! mannicmummy especially when I get up in the morning ! I sleep with a pillow between my legs and closing them in the morning to get out of bed = agony. And the first 2 minutes of walking are like a 100 year old woman doubled over staggering around !! I am leaving the house and arranging social meetings just to try to trick the baby into coming - do you think it will work ??!Hmm

StrangewaysHereICome · 10/02/2011 09:43

Hi mannic it is a strange feeling! I have to hold the sink to lower myself onto the loo and am walking like John Wayne!

Could work grippingon!

ReturnOfTheBoomBap · 10/02/2011 09:45

The fact you had your two previous babies early is a good sign. however, i had that very low down, baby-about-to-drop feeling from about 36 weeks with my first child and baby was fully engaged very early on...but I got to 42+5 before he was born!

robino · 10/02/2011 15:10

I called DH back from work at 3am on Wednesday because I was in labour. After about an hour and a half it stopped. He still came home. And there has been no sign since. Nothing is shifting this baby from having it's head right inbetween my legs - even having a wee is difficult. It is my due date today, feel like it's never coming out!

Hi robino how are you doing now? Any news?

Nothing here, but the baby feels very low so surely it can't be much longer?

robino · 15/02/2011 19:05

Strangeways - I'm still here! It's now a week since I called poor DH back from work at 3am with contractions. Have had contractions/ niggles/ pains for a week now and still nothing doing. Rubbish.

How are you?

Poor you robino, hope it all happens soon for you :), I thought things might be go, last night, woke up in the night feeling like I wanted to climb the walls, pacing around for hours, getting painful contractions (not regular) but saw mw today, she said there just braxton hicks :/ never had them before with dd1 & ds, shock to the system! she also said I had weeks left as dc were a week over an baby not fully engaged :( hate waiting, worse than was a kid waiting for xmas! Ive told the bump i'm willing to wait untill half term and thats it (be handy not doing school run walking like a cow boy! Wink)

StrangewaysHereICome · 16/02/2011 09:58

Hi there robino and manic I am the same - still niggling but STILL NO BABY!!!! I have managed two decent nights sleep so feel a bit better but oh my word the baby feels really low. The BH's are getting more uncomfortable but that is probably due to the baby's position.

Come on babies!!
