How likely is it that I am not dilating at ALL but having regular-ish contractions and general labour pains?

Due date today. Have had on-off contractions since Fri eve. Not dilated at all last night (well, 2cm but she thought that was due to previous preg). Today have had labour pains and strong (though short/15-30-45) contractions every 5/10 mins. Had an hour or so of short contractions every 3 mins then a few very intense ones every 10mins, then 20 mins break or so... then a few intense short ones every 2 mins. You get the picture. Just had v intense contraction. Most I have coped with fine (v freakin' painful but counted through etc).

Last time (this is 3rd preg) I had no contractions really, just agonising backache and they never became regular - til my waters broke and they came every minute.

I can't face being sent home from hospital again but equally I would rather not do it all without pain relief again (ie wait for waters to break - which is kinda what i am doing now). And I am tired. Can I have some moral support for waiting or any advice PLEASE! Smile

Hi I had irregular ccs on DC2 (DC1 was back to back and constant ccs) but I went up after 10 hours of contractions when they had become regular at 3 minutes lasting 1min 30 and was told I hadnlt dilated at all Sad and was upset thinking I was not in labor.

Stayed at home another two hours and after a hour they became constant no break so I went back up and 4cms yay (but just so you dont get frightened my labor was only 2 hours after that).

I would wait untill the pain is getting really bad and then go up. I hope this is it for you and hope things go smoothly Smile
