Boo. Stupid stop-start contractions. Anyone else want to share limbo-land?

So am 39+6. Third preg. Last two were looooong. Expecting to go past 40 (as did with dd and ds) - original due date was 27th. Official is 23rd (tomorrow). Had a few contractions Thurs am. Contractions reasonably regularly all last night, this morning a few strong ones (and 30-60secs) but very irregular (10mins/an hour). And some little ones too.

Bah. Didn't really manage to sleep so am knackered now, but really thought that would be it today.

Was all set to ring my mum to take the kids and then head down to hospital maybe afternoon? - ooh just got another very very mild one - but it seems Nope.

So frustrating. And I know it's normal and all part of my body getting ready but still. Right, trying to frame positively and look at it as exciting as I think probably it will happen in next couple of days... Grin

Oh yes, forgot to say. No 'show' yet so assuming it won't be today after all...

i'm in! I'm 39+3 with my first.

relatively light contractions for the last two days and baby is moving/turning v. low in my pelvis.

just think they might be getting stronger and more regular and then they taper off to absolutely nothing.

Lost my plug about 5/6 weeks ago so no idea if it's formed again or if i just don't have one anymore - therefore not likely this will be a good indication.

also, my mother's waters never broke naturally and were broken in hospital several hours into labour. don't know if this is likely for me either, but prob won't be a guide.

So, i'm sat here driving myself mad trying to judge contractions and work out if they are the real thing or BH.

ho hum.

Well, I have had lots more backache (as I had in second labour, and possibly first) and more contractions... got parents coming to take the kids in an hour or so, then thinking I might head for hospital this evening (and hoping they don't say 'nope, not dilated at all' sob).

I want my first labour ! long but with a lovely epidural so v relaxed... (though second was fine, no pain relief at all but somehow got through it)

Good luck Crystalline, if it gets too much do ring your maternity unit and get them to check you out. Every birth is different.

cheers Adair!

I have the backache too. extremely tired and a bit over emotional!! had a kip to pull myself together.

something tells me that i might have a few days of this before the real thing starts in earnest.

oh well, at least it seems i'm moving slightly further along.

bit loathe to go in yet as I'm over an hour away and can't bear the faff of it. might phone my MW later though if it's still going on.

gl at the hospital!

Adair · 22/01/2011 21:18

nope, am back.
very disheartened. nothing happening.
everything stopped for the duration of hospital visit Hmm so i looked like an idiot.
now in loads of pain. back pain like last time) the odd painful contraction.

wouldnt actually mind if it stopped overnight so i can sleep.
am off to try and sleep now (kids at nanna's still) and hope i get some sleep or things kick off proper.

have looked at threads from me from last year and was EXACTLY the same. oh dear.

best wishes crystalline - see you on here tomorrow (or not)!

I'm in limbo too - contractions every 10 mins for a while, then every 5 mins, then 10. Wish they'd speed up. Not in too much pain - more uncomfortable than agonising (luckily!)

Diamondback · 26/01/2011 12:25

Bah - me too. The midwife told me last week that she's certain the baby will be early (i'm 38 wks today), which cheered me up no end, then contractions started on Sunday night... then they stopped again. Started again Monday night... then stopped again. Major back pain this morning, now nothing apart from the baby headbutting my bowels and bladder regularly - super painful!

Nuts. According to the ultrasound I had last week, she's nearly 8 pounds already, so come out now! The clothes are washed, the bag is packed, I'm ready to rumble!

due today and made dh stay at home cause he works over an hour away and i thought things had started this morning. been stop start all day, not getting any stronger. last 2 were definate starts and arrived quite quickly so this feels wierd! i had a feeling it wouldn't be straight forward though, and my dates are for next week so i still think i'm a week early. ho hum. dh hoping baby comes by tomorrow morning so his day off work will have been for good reason!

Crystylline · 26/01/2011 18:11

well i'm still here too. due date today and not a thing for the last couple of days.
