If you had an ELCS for your first birth, are you automatically offered one when pregnant again? (nhs)

I was, but the hospital I had babies in are quick to offer them.
Another hospital might encourage VBAC.
At the end of the day though, I think it's up to you.

My first ELCS was by maternal request so my consultant saw little point in trying to persuade me to VBAC with #2 although the hospitals policy is to encourage VBAC and I still had to have a discussion and present my reasons before my second ELCS was agreed.

It probably depends in part why your CS was elective.

For example a planned CS for medical reasons like a transverse lie is counted as an ELCS but wouldn't be an automatic antecedent for another CS.

An ELCS because of PTSD which might be worsened by vaginal birth would be more likely to be taken into account.
