Am I in labor?

My stomach has suddenly gone very tight. Not painful band stayed tight for the last twenty mins
Had knife like pains in my uterus all day irregular. Alot if wind and more than normal discharge.
Im 38 weeks. Is labor imminent??

I had pains like this when I was 38 weeks and they carried on for a couple of weeks. I had a lot of discharge, diarrhea and uterus pain.

It certainly sounds like things are on the way.

If it helps, when I was in labour it felt like seriously bad period pains combined with the feeling of having a stitch. My midwife said the thing to look out for is lower back pain. If you begin having lower back pains, at least one an hour, then your probably in labour or at least very close.

sounds more like Braxton Hicks contractions - pre labour..

they could carry on for a few hours, or a few weeks....

agree with LittleBeth - labour is more like period pains that get steadily more and more painful (well, it was for me...)

obv. if you are worried, you should phone your midwife.
