I'm due to give birth at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital. It sounds mad but i"m also due to move house. Because of the fact my current house is so close to the chelsea, the plan is to go to hospital from here and then return home to our new place in Swiss cottage post birth. Will post birth heal visits be organized by the hospital? Will they send people from the Chelsea or do I need to register with a GP in Swiss Cottage now and have it organised through them?

Thank you!

Best discuss this with your community midwife - its they who will come out post-birth (or it is here anyway)

the community midwives will be the ones coming out, so you would need to be registered with your local GP practice

At the hospital when you ahve given birth they will ask you for your discharge address and the community midwives will come from around that address so if you live in swiss cottage I'm guessing they'll come from the royal free team ( who happen to be the team I had and were lovely!)

This is what happened for me I gave Birth at UCLH and live in Golders green they just referred me to the right community team.

I didn't see a community midwife during my pregnancy I saw all hospital midwives.

Yep - I delivered at Kings College which is a good hour with average traffic from our house, and had my local GP community midwives come out to do the check-up visits. Should be no problems!

Thank you! I guess I'd better get registered asap with a local GP. (my midwives and GP at the moment is in Fulham) I hope it's quick and easy to do and that I can do it over the phone as I can't actually walk due to SPD.
