Hello!

Just wondering if anyone has given birth recently at Queen Charlotte and whether you chose the birth centre or the labour ward? I'm a first timer and really have no idea what plan to make. I know things can always change on the day and you'll just have to go with the flow, but I'm struggling to even make an initial decision.

Any experience and words of advise would be gratefully received!

I had my 6th baby at QC in November, i've had all my babies there.

I had a c-section so my experience is different to others who have had a natural labour. I have heard good things about the birth centre but i have no personal experience of it myself.

I am hoping to ttc again in a few months & im seriously considering if i do get pregnant to go else where.

The care i received for my recent c-section & afterwards was rubbish. Way too much to go into but the care was very poor imo.

I've just supported a couple booked at Queen Charlottes. They chose a homebirth after finding out about the amazing one-to-one service there. You get a lead midwife who does all your appointments at home and when you go in to labour one of the midwives from a small team will come out to you - you have their mobile numbers.

If you decide you want to transfer in or need to (which we did) they go ahead and prepare a room for you, meet you there and you still have one of the one to one team (the same midwife if there isn't a shift change).

I was hugely impressed by the service, thought it was wonderful both at home and in the hospital and I know that the postnatal care has been amazing too.
