Hi,
Has anyone given birth at he new st.marys hospital in central manchester?
I would like to know what your experiences are/were.
how does it work. im down as 'midwifery led care' though not sure what that involves.
i have been in little contact with the hospital and had very little advice/contact from Community midwife too.
im due in 4 weeks and starting to panic and worry.
Im having a tour of the ward next week. this is my first preg and i have absolutely NO idea what to expect!
also i may need to have an ELCs as shes still breech.
what are your experiences of this at St.Marys.
thanks.

Hi there - I'd agree with TheSecondComing - although I'm going back 6 years or so...

They were brilliant when I was in labour - I had an emergency c section and they were fantastic - midwives, doctors, anaesthetists all amazing.

Post-birth was not great - they were just so busy they didn't really have time to help me and I was in a lot of pain. I left on day 2 and went home as I knew I'd get better care and feel well rested.

I'd already booked a private room (isn't too expensive - 6 years ago I think it was £30 a night) and spent my 2nd night in it - I was in the post-op bit for the first night. The room was good and I was glad I had it but I felt quite isolated from everyone else - but you can't have everything.

You'll be fine - ask lots of questions on the tour and in terms of if you need an ELC you're in great hands - good luck! Smile

ring the parent education number on your green notes& ask for a booking.they have no bookings for antenatal classes left but make sure you get the tour.
had a look on friday.it was re assuring to see&the midwives doing the tour seemed really focused on making us aware that we are the ones making the decisions during labour&they will support however possible.
