TENS advice please

I'm 27 weeks with my first and need to start getting organised.

Please can anyone help me with who I should rent a TENS from, which model and when I need to order it and when to get it delivered.

I don't want to be renting it for weeks unused but also obviously need it in time. There seem to be loads of different models and pricing plans and it just makes me Confused

All advice/experience appreciated, thanks in advance

I got mine from Boots - don't remember the model. The easier it is to operate the better as you will lose ther power of reason during labour! Mine had a "boost button" whoch you could press at the peak of a contraction and that was great. Best to have it delivered three weeks before your due date.

Go to boots online- enter your due date and they do the rest. I got a mama tens one.

Hi - I bought this one lloyds TENS
as it wasn't very much more expensive than renting was. Also was fun to test it out on DH (we found it hilarious that the instructions repeatedly warned against using TENS on your 'sexual organs' Shock)

If you are hoping for more children then it is massively economical to buy one.

I have 4 children and mine has been loaned out 4 times too. Plus I will get pretty much what I paid for it back on e-bay.

Likewise I bought one and have used it for all 3 of mine and loaned it to friends too. Very good value for money.

I bought one of Amazon for about £50. I think it was the Elle TENS which is supposedly one of the best. It had a boost button which is vital!

I loved my TENS machine. Don't know what I would have done without it in early labour.

DH and I had a practice with it beforehand. We put it on him and he stupidly turned it up to maximum. I couldn't even have it up to maximum in the throes of full on contractions as it was far too painful!

If you are planning on more than one baby you may as well buy one.

Boots online - was a brilliant help. couldn't have stayed at home so long / got to the hospital without it

I used www.tens.co.uk it was the best price and they had a really good service: fast delivery, free return postage, free spare electrodes for testing, the hired tens machine came all sparkly with new batteries, I can't fault them. It was the Elle tens (boost button is essential!), I used it right from the beginning, all the way through and it was fabby. Good luck!

If you rent make sure it has an option to extend the rental if you go overdue!

Thanks everyone, I'm looking out for an ebay bargain but if I get to the end of Jan without finding one I like I'll rent one. I'm not sure how many kids we'll have, I'd like more than one but DH doesn't so we'll have to see how we cope with the first I guess and go from there.

can this machine be used again? maybe to relieve back pain? did anyone use it?
