HEELP syndrome

I had my ds1 4 months ago via emergency c section as I had severe preeclamsia with Heelp syndrome. We are both lucky to be here to tell the tale and get through relatively unscathed. I was wondering if anyone else had it and if they had it in subsequent pregnancies and if anyone has been told to take aspirin the next time they are pregnant. My consultant recommended it to me. I suppose while I'm on the subject if any one has had a vaginal delivery after a c section which i would ideally want next time round but i had really bad bruising and dont know how I will go! Sorry for rambling some what melodramitically but it would just be good to know other peoples thoughts and feelings as it feels like its taken a while to get over it all emotionally.

My sister developed HELLP Syndrome too. I really sympathise - it was the most terrifying experience, we were told to prepare to say goodbye to her. She was given a 1 in 10 chance of survival, spending a while in intensive care. Thankfully she survived, as did her baby and all was well in the end.

She has since been advised that she would be classed as a special care pregnancy in future, and yes, I think told about taking aspirin.

I am not surprised you are still trying to cope with what you experienced - it was only 4 months ago. Have you discussed what happened with the consultant? I know my sister did this and she found it helpful.

Yeah i did talk it over with my consultant which was helpful. I was very lucky as i had a routine appointment with my midwife and she picked up my preeclamsia so they were on top of things very quickly. we also didnt know how serious it was until the the worst was overso i didn't panic. Glad to hear your sister is ok and hope this thread hasnt touched too many raw nerves for people.
