That's a good sign, right? Does that mean labour is imminent, or could it still be a few days?

It's a good sign, I think and it means it's soon and worth a call to your MW.

With my first, I lost mine over the course of a day or two - almost wasn't sure that's what it was.

Wth DD2 - I had a sweep, so I can't count that one.

With DS - I was already in established labour and it shot out and made me jump!

Good luck.

Jealous!

Good luck sounds like baby is on its way x

How many weeks are you? I'm afraid you can lose your plug a good week or two before you actually go into labour. It doesn't mean that labour is imminent but on the plus side it does mean that your cervix is changing and softening so your body is gearing up for labour. I lost my plug and started getting mild contractions that evening, although DS took a few more days to make an appearence! You never know! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I lost mine or a substantial bit of it on Tuesday bang on 37 weeks - have had random bits of cramping and the baby has dropped substantially but not much else. I've googled losing the mucous plug and it seems that it can still be weeks until full labour starts - bloody shows though are usually a sign of dialation so more likely to indicate imminent labour (I think). Wishing you luck though!

i had a show about 3 weeks ago, still waiting.

with ds i had a show and he was born 2 days later.

you never know.

good luck.

Sorry, unhelpful post from me too. I lost my plug at 38 weeks and ended up being induced at 41+5.

Crystylline · 02/01/2011 10:51

I lost my plug at 34 weeks with a show that lasted 4 days.

i was admitted to hospital for a few days so they could monitor me, due to concerns about prem labour, but fortunately (for me) it hasn't lead to labour.

hope (if you're at term) it does mean labour on the way, but my MW also said it can be 2/3 weeks from losing plug to labour.

Lost my plug at 11pm and gave birth at 2.30pm next day :-)

It can be sign you will be going into labour soon but not necessarily. if you are less than 37 weeks (and therefore preterm) then i suggest you ring your local delivery suite at the hospital you are booked as it isn't something that you should lose preterm although it does happen sometimes.

I lost mine at 34+3, my waters went the following day and I gave birth the day after that. I was under the impression that you can lose the plug a long time before going into labour but that just wasn't the case for me. As chocolateefudge says, if you have not yet reached 37 weeks I would definitely go and get yourself checked out to be on the safe side.
