right , im 34 weeks on tuesday for the past two weeks iv been getting period like pains on and off. the other day i thought i had lost my mucus plug, however there was no blood/ pink tinge to it? it was just a big clear/misty lump of jelly.

iv had an increase in diarreah, and also been sick at least once a day. and earlier on i had one of the worst pains in my stomache i have ever expierienced, it only happpened twice, and then went off.

what is happening, is this all normal? thankss :)

I have only had 2 dcs but that sounds like Braxton Hicks to me - I think they are practise contractions. You can have them for quite some time before birth.
A more experienced mum will be along in a minute to assure you better than I can but don't worry - it sounds normal to me.

I do know the midwives always prefer to see you if you are worried. They can attatch little sensors to your bump to monitor activity - I had that done with my last pregnancy.

hobbgoblin · 27/12/2010 18:44

Before you mentioned the pain I thought possibly just Braxton Hicks or early labour because of the jelly. If early labout you should go and be checked as is obviously too early to be ideal.

However, the sudden and unusual pain is concerning, as is the sickness. There are a number of things it could be or may not be at all. Are you feeling movements normally? I think you should trust your instinct as it is the most powefulk thing, and go and get checked as soon as you can. Remember, midwives and nurses work regardless of time of day or week or year and it will not be a burden in any way.

It sounds pretty normal but I would say ring your maternity unit and ask them, I went up a few times with my first pregnancy and were always lovely and I never felt I was wasting anyone's time.

FWIW I went through a spell of being sick every day at about this stage in pregnancy and then it just cleared up. I was sure it was pregnancy related at the time, but now I think I had a bug that made me throw up but had no other symptons.

like hobgoblin I thought braxton hicks until you mentioned pain and sickness. Ring your midwife,

ds1 was born delivered at 33wks by emcs after I rang up the midwife in the middle of the night complaining of tummy ache and being sick, turned out to be severe pre-eclampsia

it may well be a touch of xmas food poisening but always worth checking out and as other posters have said, the midwife won't mind at all

wishing you well

Let us know how it goes mama - sending you lots of good luck

It could well be a UTI, which can trigger early labour so DO get to your maternity centre or emergency doctor ASAP.

mama923 · 27/12/2010 20:22

im thinking maybe it may be a uti? as developed pain when urinating, slight lower back pain, and some watery discharge, should i call doc now, or wait until morning? thanks ladies

i had similar last week (31 wks) and midwife checked my urine but even though she said it wasn´t clear if there was an infection she told me to take the medicine for UTI just in case. I think at this stage everyone would really rather be overcautious.

can you call a doc and see what they advise?

Hassledge · 27/12/2010 20:45

My shows were always just clear/misty, so don't worry about that.

I think you're definately getting good and ready - the D&V could be a coincidental bug, though. I think you should call your midwife/unit for some reassurance. Good luck :)
