Sounds stupid but am 39 wks, all blocked up with throat in agony. All come on rather suddenly and fear it can only get worse. Was orig going for natural birth but if I can't breathe properly shd I be going for gas and air? Or wd going for epidural etc be worse ? I am knackered as had to work up to 38 wks for financial reasons do not sure hv reserves to fight off infection...

I would say to you to go into the labour ward with an open mind. You may have totally recovered from your curreny ailments, but find you need g&a / epi anyway. Or, you could still be feeling very unwell but breeze through your labour and not need anything. It could be
some time yet before you get to that point. I went to 40+9, was induced, and had an EMCS about 4 hours later due to fetal distress. I had researched and researched and knew all my different pain rellief options etc. but I never got the choice in the end. I was glad of the knowledge, its empowering to be able to make informed choices, but I was glad that I didn't have a concrete desire for a specific birth experience or I would have been bitterly disappointed. I feel really positive about mine, though on paper it sounds like all of the things FTM's are made to fear!
Hope you feel better soon, and all the best for your new arrival!

No idea about the birthplan, but I suspect I may be the only other person awake! Poor you having this awful cold ( I've got it too) and being very pregnant at the same time. I think olbas oil in hot water and inhale it is about all you can do when pregnant, a steamy shower perked me up a bit earlier.

I hope you're now asleep and don't see this but, congratulations on your new year baby when he/she arrives. My summer baby is six months old and it has been quite the ride!

Happy christmas

I am not sure you should rethink your birth plan just be open and aware of all the options you do have. Until you are actually in labour you have no idea what that.particular labour is going to be like. Good luck and happy Christmas.

Your body knows better than to go into labour when you've got a bug.
