Hi, I had PIH from 35 weeks and was induced at 38 weeks. I want to give birth in a birth centre this time (as DGH) a long way away, if i don't get PIH this time. What are my chances and has anyone had PIH/Pre eclampsia during their 1st pregnancy but not in their second. Any thoughts are welcome!

Hi, I had pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy (twins) and haven't had it this time round (in labour now at 40+2) I have been monitored very closely and don't think my consultant would have recommended a birth centre. Hope you get what you want!

I also had pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy (had an EMCS at 35+4), but not in my second, and my blood pressure remained fine.

I tried for a VBAC with DS2 but had an EMCS because of failure to progress. My obstetrician didn't recommend a birth centre in case I developed pre-eclampsia during labour (although he said the likelihood was remote).

Good luck with your pregnancy - I hope that it goes smoothly for you this time.

And good luck to goodlifemummy - hope you have a safe and swift delivery!

Another here who had PE with #1, but not #2.

I did have a scare, high BP at my pre admittance appointment. Was having a section, so needed to see consult etc. I was advised to see my gp 2 days later, and BP was still high, so he sent me to hospital. I was there a few hours, being checked out, poked/prodded etc. But all was OK. The theory is that because my car broke down on the way to my pre admit appointment, leaving me stranded, the stress raised my BP. And them the stress of the raised BP kept it up!

Anyway, I digress. I was told no to birth centre (at booking appt) because of previous section. That they weren't equipped for medical intervention should I require another section.
