Will today's reflexology bring on baby?

Hi - I am 39+1 today and need this baby out! Have had pineapple, spicy food and had reflexology this morning. So now I am waiting with breathless anticipation for something to happen! I am vbac so no idea what to expect when!

Anyone else had labour start after reflexology? I know that things will happen when bubba is ready, but its fun trying - right? Xmas Grin.......

Sorry to say that it didn't work for me, neither did accupunture, raspberry leaf tablets or the 2 sweeps that I've had....this LO is staying put!

i had reflexology with acupuncture at 41wks with DS1. Contractions started 48 hrs later

No, it won't bring on labour. Neither will acupuncture, raspberry leaf tea, homeopathy or pineapple. Your best bet is sex.

I had 2 sweeps and 2 reflexology inducements. Baby will come when it is ready. I went to 42+3 and was induced in the end. Posterior first baby.

didnt work for me. but i tried it at about 10 days overdue, the lady said you need to start earlier for it to be effective. ds was 16 days over Shock

blueberrysantabait · 13/12/2010 18:43

It worked for me :) DD2 was born less than 12 hours after my second session!

UnpureAsTheDrivenSHOW · 13/12/2010 18:56

None of it works. Raspberry leaf tea isn't linked to start of labour anyway, it's to strengthen your uterus. Pineapple you'd need 8 fresh ones in one sitting to get even approaching the right amount of enzyme that's associated with childbirth. Sex has never been proven to start labour in any tests, although there's a very weak link between the oral ingestion of semen and the start of labour.

Babies come when they're ready, it's a hormonal reaction between your body and the baby, nothing to do with external influences.

Of course there are people who had sex/ate a whole pineapple/had reflexology and went into labour. That's called coincidence. There will be far more that did all the above and nowt happened and a legion more who sat down/slept/ate chocolate and went into labour.

You don't want your baby to be born at any time other than when it's ready.

Easy Tiger!! I completely agree with your logical post, but I've got nothing else to do! More of a light-hearted wondering than anything else.

Don't worry, I don't want early babies, my twins were born premature at 33+6, so been there, done that. Think I've done pretty well getting to 39+1! Xmas Wink

Off to have another cup of raspberry leaf tea. Which, rather weirdly I am really enjoying the taste of!! My DH doesn't believe me when I tell him it only tones your uterus!

my MIL has recommended a long bike ride and lashings of angel delight.

my FIL recommends fizzy cod liver oil.

my Dad says trampolining should work.

my Sister says go for a cross country walk.

tons of advice that I am not going to take.

I am 40+1 and also hope this LO arrives soon. At the moment it's taking after DH's side of the family, they are always late for everything.
