I am due Jan 12th, so am 35 weeks. I was fully expecting to go to term/slightly overdue as most first-timers tend to. But then I was speaking to my mum and she said she was a week early with both me and my bro and that my grandma was always at least 4 weeks eraly with all six of hers.

I have felt completely fine all through my pg but suddenly this last week I feel like shit! I have sciatica, my back REALLY aches and I'm getting what I assume is SPD, my "fanny-bone" really hurts when I lift or open my legs. I am getting almost constant braxton hicks when I do ANYTHING and last week I had a day where I was literally sodden down below for most of the day and whilst the MW assured me it was normal discharge I can't help thinking it was a show/fluid or something. Plus, after having been constantly constipated I have now got a constantly upset stomach and am getting period-like pains on and off. Oh and I am KNACKERED.

My mum is convinced I'm going to go into labour soon as she said she got all this kind of thing just before she did. I'm not so sure, though the change in how I've been feeling has been quite dramatic and this has all come on rather suddenly. My baby is larger than average from the fundal measurements (approx 2.75 kg at 34 weeks) and last time I saw anyone head was down but not engaged.

What do y'all think? Is this just shitty late pregnancy and I've just been lucky up til now and have got 5 more weeks of this? What were your signs that labour was on the way? Oh and sorry for not posting this in pregnancy but I want to hear from people who actually know what it's like to go into labour.

i never had signs labour was on its way as went to almost 42wks and induced both times but i had everything you describe frrom 33weeks or so.

I have all of these (but have never been in labour before) and I am 38+4. Keep thinking todays the day, but nothing. I think it is shitty late pregnancy.

GlitteryBalls · 09/12/2010 14:01

Oh poo! Looks like I've got 5+ more shitty weeks of this then! And I'm working up til 30th Dec. Was hoping ealry labour would rescue me. Merry Xmas!

Now I know why everyone's dying to get it over with in the end, I feel so exhausted and huge and immobile and achey and yuk! And up until now I'd been wondering hwt all of the fuss is about... Grin

Yeah, sounds like my normal pregnancy too -sorry! I can also add horribly swollen hands & feet to your list, yuummmmmmmm.

GlitteryBalls · 09/12/2010 15:13

Yes, have that too. Legs no longer have any kind of a semblance of "shape" just 2 dimply over-stuffed sausages. PLEASE tell me that at least some of it is just water retention that goes fairly quickly after the birth and not actually solid fat that will have to be painfully dieted/exercised off over a period of months/years?

I seem to have intermittent fat feet....and daily sausage fingers but not all day Hmm

Also getting period type pain, am 36+3, have midwife appt tomorow, hopefully bump is in the right place and looking enthusiastic to make an appearance!

My only mum friend litterally deflated when she had given birth if that makes you feel any better? Grin
