Are the following just crappy 37 week+ stuff, or is labour imminent?

DC1 due second week of December so am c.38 weeks.
Have had a pretty good 2nd and 3rd trimester, apart from a nasty 3-4 week bout of sciatica/PGP, am fit and well and usually have lots of energy and feel in a good mood.
However in the last 4 days I have developed the following annoying symptoms.

  • Pooing a lot (sorry TMI)
  • Weeing incessantly & is hard to get all the wee out of bladder (sorry, TMI)
  • Increased discharge (sorry TMI)
  • Tired and moody
  • Insomnia
  • Furiously wriggling baby who feels like they are trying to fight their way out of the bump
  • Downward pressure on cervix, sometimes it feels like something is stuck in my birth canal, a bit like when you've not inserted a tampon correctly -Achy 'heavy period about to start any moment' lower belly cramps
  • Lower back pain (but this feels like a rerun of the PGP rather than period cramps)

Googling 'signs of labour' and reading old MN threads is inconclusive so what I'm asking is not: 'am I going into labour at any moment',
(because who knows?) but instead

is all this just the usual final furlong inconveniences and thus just to be put up with?

Would be handy to know because then I can factor in needing to go slow and not go out much over the remaining weeks.

-sigh-

Ta.

I've never laboured but everything you describe sounds like how I am now - and I'm only 31 weeks, although I'm massive, with twins. So I'd say it's not a sign of approaching labour, just 37wk craptitude.

sorry, sounds like crapitude to me too. Have been having all the above plus loads of braxtons, some at regular intervals getting me all wound up, for at least the past three weeks.

I am due today and it looks like I'll still be here in several weeks' time as no change [grumpy emoticon]. The last few weeks S U C K imho. Best of luck - and for your sake I really hope it IS the start of something, or eases off until it DOES start!

Yep I've got all that and it's been over a week now. I am beyond pissed off!

Gah.
Well, I kind of thought so.
Everyone says the last bit is grimly tiresome and...I guess it is.
Thanks for the input.
At least I have an excuse to order groceries online and watch soppy films on my beanbag.
